My sister gave me a ipod for Christams and I was looking into hooking it up to my soon to be new system. Has anyone out there done this already? I was looking at the pioneer hook-up. My sister has the iTrip connection that sends a signal to a local fm station to be picked up, sounded like s***. She even had to pull out of the garage to get a clear signal. basically I just wanted to know if anyone had any first hand knowledge or experience with this hook-up, (sq, install, overall quality, and ease to use) itsends a signal through bluetooth. Thanks

I got my 60 gig Ipod video hooked up to my CDA 9855 via the KCA 420i Alpine adaptor. It sounds friggin AWSOME, it is a little slow to display the song artist and song name but other than that it rocks. Oh it charges the Ipod as well. Stay away from the FM transmitter... it sounds like boo boo...

so basically all I need is a aux cable? Is the sound quality equal to cd's? I read somewhere that mp3 files don't sound as good because they're compressed, is this true?

It depends how the CD is ripped and how it is compressed.

I use this:

http://www.chrismyden.com/bestmp3guide.php

It works VERY WELL. Follow the instructions to the T and you cant go wrong. Using the original CD (Ofcourse //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif) makes a big difference as well...good luck!

**Edit* Yes a AUX cable will produce the best results.

There no possible way of getting the best SQ, best control, best everything than buying the respective unit the head unit manufacturer makes for the ipod.

I have the alpine kca-420i unit, and there couldn't be a better way of getting music to my HU. It uses the iPod's line-out instead if the headphone jack, and it'll charge your ipod while you're at it. Controlling the ipod from the HU = awesomeness. I like keeping the ipod on random (6,500 songs.. surprise me!) so it works perfectly for me.

I'd recommend you get pioneer's unit. I think its worth it.
