When hooking up a HU, do you:

A. Use butt splices

B. Twist the wires together and use a "twistie cap" thing

C. Soder

D. Electrical Tape

E. Other

I have always used butt splices but was wondering if there is a better way to do it. I've installed 3 HU's before but this time I got a new car and am doing my first "real" system.

I have had butt splices fail on numerous ocasions. Twistie caps also. In my last installation i just twisted the wires in one direction folded it over upon itself and taped with electrical tape. I tried pulling on the connections and I couldn't rip them apart when i tried (i benchpress 275ish lol). Soldering is never bad and is how i have made my connections on all other occasions. It is supposedly the most secure way although the bonds can get brittle after time... like years. I am not a fan of heatshrink tubing i just use electrical tape. A hell of a lot cheaper because the only heatshrink that is useful is 3:1 or better and costs an arm and a leg imo.
