Hooking up a DVC sub...

ok, now this may be a stupid question, but its never really been explained to me.

If i have a 4 + 4 DVC sub, and a 2 channel amp, what are my options for hooking it up?

I have read that hooking up a voice coil to each channel will blow the sub, and i dont doubt it, but then what does that leave me?

The only thing i can think of is running the sub at 8 ohms and bridging the 2 channels to see 4. (because the amp isnt 1 ohm stable)

4ohms from a bridged amp just seems like a waste to me though. is there any way around this?

What kind of amp?

i havent picked out an amp yet, this is some what hypothetical.

the amp isnt stable at 1 ohm or 2 ohms bridged...

you can hook up the sub to a two channel amp. i did it for a few years. didnt damage my sub at all. bridge your amp and run your voicing coils in parallel your load on your amp will only be at 2 ohm

so get a mono amp that's stable at 2 ohms.

a DVC 4 ohm sub can be wired to run at either 2 ohms or 8 ohms. If you have a 2 channel amp wire one coil to each channel so each channel will see 4 ohms. If you bridge the amp.. you will most likely have to run the sub at 8 ohms.

Since you havn't bought the sub amp yet, why not just get the CORRECT one?
