I like the looks of them but then again I am a big retro fan and have yet to see much of anything modern that I can appreciate for what it is. Also a big fan of big motors even if they are in tanks lol. Never liked the "sport" cars such as the Lotus Elise, or S2000 and whatever other small weight small motor cars. I like muscle cars even if they aren't that fast and it all depends on application too, muscle cars go good straight line but not good cornering, while sports cars go good on corners but don't have the power to keep up on the straights.
New camaro sucks though, its retro but not retro enough for my tastes. Still looks too much like a concept car and like it can't make up its mind on if it wants to be modern and be old.
I totally agree though on the weight, cars are BOATS nowadays. Problem is ya gotta yank out half the safety features and half the creature comforts to cut weight. Give me a nice old 66 mustang fastback with a hi-po 289 and a 4 speed, not too much muscle but sure would get up and go and without too much weight.
