Home theater uses???

You would be looking for a voltage rectifier. It would be easier to buy a home audio amp to power whatever you are trying to power.

Can you be more specific? Odds are the rectifier you will need would be very expensive.

lol i thought about doing that to but i couldnt get anything to work so i went to EBAY and bought a 200 watt subwoofer for a computer took the amp out of it and hooked it to my subs lol worked pretty good to

The big struggle with car audio amps, is the low voltage source. Home audio amps have a steady 120v source, which is why its easier to get clean power out of them. In the car, you need a 1500w mono amp to drive one 700wrms sub. You could use a 700wrms home/PA amp to drive the same sub with ease.

So it is very questionable why you want a car amp in the home.

I would have to disagree, a watt is a watt. 700 watts would be overkill in a house because there is no road noise and other factors, its a quiet room with lots of places for sound reflection. The reason you would want a car amp in the house is because you don't have the money to buy a home amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif . I believe you can use a battery charger, i have one but havn't tried it yet, i'll try it tommorow anyway, i think overtime it probably isn't very good for it, it will be putting heavy draw on the thing and possibly could cause a fire or just break. But like said above, the things to actually convert the power that are used in stores are very expensive.

Your right about the home environment, but I was talking about the design of a home amp and car amp. The car amp is designed to work with tiny voltage, which is why you have to get the top of the line to push a good sub. Relative to a car amp, a home amp gets 120v steady electrical supply, compared to 12v average for a car amp. A home amp with less watts can easily drive the same sub that would require a powerful car amp.

So basically a cheap home theater reciever would be better than trying to wire a car amp in the house.

This is not true. Most car audio sub woofers are not 8ohm which is the level of home audio amplifiers.

This is just not true. Yes it may be easier to get power from an AC power source, but that does not mean that a 1000 watt home amp puts out any more power than a 1000 watt car amp. An AC volt is no different than a DC volt when it is converted to watts. Also who's to say you can't push a W7 with a pyle? The quality of the amp has NOTHING to do with it.

Also figure that you have a pretty limited current supply from a 120v AC outlet. What is max draw before you trip a breaker? Maybe 30 or so amps?

If car amps are so good in the home, why do manufacturers waste time making these big amps with big transformers for the home. Why don't people just use car amps for the home more often.

Because in order to do it safely you would need a very expensive transformer. Have you ever been to a car audio shop? I don't think theres anything wrong with those amps running there. This thread has gotten so off topic its rediculous.
