** home theater ppl** question about a new receiver I just bought. Surround issue

Well my old klipsh 2.1 system just went so I went to best buy and picked up a pioneer vsx-819h receiver with an all polk setup with a sub. I got everything hooked up threw in transformers on blu Ray went to settings and set it for 5.1 dts HD but my center channel and rear surrounds are not working.

This is the frustrating part about new receivers //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif. Any ideas on what to do to get the 5.1 working?? I checked the manual and it didn't show much at all.

play with the settings? turn up the rears and center?

on your remote click receiver, then click on the set up button its looks like a house. Turn all your speakers on from there. also make sure your speakers are set to small and you are on zone a. I have th 1019h

go through the menu settings for the sound fields....jazz hall concert etc....sometimes those settings don't use the center channel but you'll probably find some that do....if not double check the wiring and make sure that that particular speaker works by plugging it in to another channel. might be a loose connection from shipping

it should not matter his settings if he is watching a blu ray it will decode it to pcm no matter what setting he is on.

Thanks guys. I'll try a few things now. And gymfreak. Isn't the dts HD light supposed to come on the receiver at least. ? Right now all I see is phase. And if I dick around with the settings the only thing I get is neo 6. I'll try what u said in your post. Sorry I'm on a delay Herr but my laptop went out and I have no wifi or 3g on my phone

And how do you like your 1019. I was looking at it but the speakers I got didn't need a ton of power and I got it as an open box item for 199

should have come with a calibration mic , it would have detected all your speakers and calibrated them for your room. I like the 1019 its full of features the only problem I have with it is my htpc I have my hdmi hooked up straight to my tv now because the audio from the htpc goes through a optical cable and with the htpc hdmi plugged in it things audio is running through it.

here's my first issue. Mic is setup. But when I press receiver then the home button it says I'm supposed to get an on screen display on my tv. I don't get that at all. Just the display on the receiver
