Threads and comments like these crack me up.

You see, what happened is... Sundown and AT are now too popular to be cool. When they were smaller and more "underground", riding them nuts was acceptable and made you an insider. Now that everyone knows both names, it's more hip to be like, "Pffft. Sundown, schmundown. That high priced rubbish is for the proletarians. I run AP mini and use Peel n' Seal because I don't pay for labels."

Would love to hear what you do think is "the best" though. And why you think it is.

personally, i like sds as a sound deadener. im going to be putting the mlv and ccf in the new truck im getting. i already have that free 20sqft sample of audiotechnix. stuff works wonders, i dont care who likes it. as far as sundown, i like everything about them, who cares how many people run them.

Didn't recognize you for a second with that shorter name...but valid point. We should be able to run what we like and history's shown that some pretty scoffed brands have put out some pretty awesome equipment in short periods. Some...not all...can't really defend Boss and Pyle.

I think you took what I said in the stereotypical way. This thread was in response to a thread about running Alpha Damp vs. Audio Technix. A few people chimed in on the thread recommended the AT when it doesn't even run in the same league as AD. I realized that nuthugging on the deadener had surpassed common sense. I have Audio Technix and Second Skin in my car I am a fan of AT. I also like Sundown and would definitely run their amps. I would never use PS or AP and do not see Sundown or AT as too mainstream. I can't say what the top dog brand is but, money wise (Company Income) obviously JL or Kicker would destroy over all the other brands. Performance wise each brand has their ups and downs. Personally I like to run TC Sounds products because I like nice sounding drivers and good low end production. (Not saying Sundown's drivers don't sound nice. I just like things more on the SQ side for woofers.)

Zed used to make BOSS Audio's amps, lol. Then, sadly, they went in a different direction. They still put over-rated figures on them, but it at least it was quality.

Hifonics was the best of the budget market for years. Its a fashion sense fellas. One line every year or two will get super hot and another will fall off. Where Jacob did a great job was keeping his products current and kept getting better. Jacob is a ace at marketing and thats where alot of companies fail. Before Jacob got super huge with his stuff he would talk on the phone with you for what seemed like hours on end about everything audio or company related. Where most "mainstream" companies hire in a nobody that thinks he knows the ins and out about everything audio. Jacob in turns really does know alot and he runs his own company based on that.
