alright im planning on at the end of the summer purchasing a ed nine.1 but im having a hard time choosing a 15, im thinking either a 15 sx or 15 l7. i can either do a 29x29x15 tall bax or i can do a 40x 15.5x 16 tall and want to go ported, but at the same time i want it retarded loud but still maintaining some sound qaulity while the double bass in my music doesnt sound like a fart.

any suggestions? i love bass but i cant stand rap so i have to do with my metal \m/ and there is some metal out there that has some bass lines as low as rap

SX.. i have very similar dimensions to you and have debated between the subs for months.. ill prolly end up goin with the L7 since i like rap and its so cheap on ebay.. but since you need those double bass kicks i would say SX. from what ive heard the sq on the sx is a little better.

so my vote is SX.. however, im sure either would do the job well

The SX and the L7 are both SPL oriented subwoofers. Polecat will tell you that the L7's have won several SQ competitions though. I believe him but many people have not had so much luck with dd instals and retaining much SQ. BUT, I speak only from w.o.m. and have no personal experience with either.

As far as the box and tuning. I dont really know what to say. I would recommend somewhere around mid to high 30's since I imagine the peak in response would occur somewhere around the same lines as the kick drums. Something I would highly recommend to you though since you listen primarily to rock is a very strong mid-high range. That will help a lot with being satisfied when listening to rock.

my car sucks at midbass i have to have the subs low passed at 100 to get any of it and be sides that i love over powering double kick //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/satan.gif.9c6a335ed7aeeed3ee273e573f1fcaac.gif oh and so people dont have to do the math the 40x15.5x16 comes out a little over 5 cubes and the 29x29x14 comes out a little over 6

and maybe would it be beter to have two instead ojust a single in that size of boxes? bcuz otherwise wont the ed nine be to much?

thats prolly gonna be just about perfect once you factor in the port and basket displacement. cause youll prolly end up with 4.5-5 cubes after a nice big port, which is what both of those subs do well in. the SX would be able to handle the nine.1 daily (it puts out close to 1400 rms @ 14.4 i think) as long as you dont try and kill it. the L7 on the other hand would have to be wired for a 2 ohm load on that amp and that amp will give just over 1000wrms (900 rating is at 12 v) at 2 ohms i think.

abotu the midbass though. what do you mean your car sucks for midbass? do you mean your midbass speakers ****? cause with a couple really nice 6.5s and some dampening mat i bet you would be surprised what your car can do //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

and it might be ok to have your low pass that high, but bass gets a little directional over 80 hz or so... so theres where some good mids would come in. if you had soem strong mids up front then your sub would still give you a bump at 100 hz, yet it wouldnt sound like its coming from the trunk. it would sound pretty much up in the seat where youre at because your ears would pick up on that midbass from your doors.

dont knwo much about components but this is what ive been told

i cant fit any 6.5s only 5.25 in the stock locations cuz where they are located its a 94 lebaron sedan. id get kicks done but i like having my space and dont want to worry bout people hurthing them. and for the life of me i cant figure out how to get the panels off the doors. i have the y series of 5.25s from ma audio and are doing geat up there but anything below 100 they arent putting out. next week ill be getting my 860 back from ike sound and will have em set in network mode and play with em a little.

for double bass id recomend upgrading your front stage with a nice component set and a good sub to hit the lows you should not be dissapointed. however not having heard either of those subs i could not tell you which would be the loudest. i can tell you that a circle with a 15" diameter will have greater cone area than a square with sides measuring 15"x15" but that would be assumning both drivers were the exact smae which i am sure they are not. lets get dave from re in here and polecat to debate the situation

well i remeasured and i could als oget in a box that is 12 inches tall 40 wide and 30 long. i hate having a trunk where its hard to get in boxes lol

oh and this box comes out to 6.6 cubes after mdf displacemnt

and a 15 magnum is looking like a good candadate to\

or how would a 18 sx sound in this size of a box with an ed nine 1? im thinkning about tunning it to 28-35

As said above, I would definately consider a new front stage. I've found in my experiences that a good set of midrange speakers can really make a difference with double kickdrums, ect. Also maybe consider a driver that's a little more SQ oriented. I'm not saying the SX or L7 won't have decent SQ (I've never heard an SX and never heard an L7 I liked for rock/metal) but it's just a thought.

but i want over powering double bass components cant do that and if you listen to some songs by cephaltic carange or lamb of god alot of that stuff the bass is comparable to rap and i also listen to alot of manson which the mechanical animals and golden age of the grotese has some very powerfull bass to em
