Hm, to get the Q, or not to get the Q

Right now im driving around with 2 12" kickers in my car with about 600 watts to them, i realllly am in need of an upgrade now....i dont think they are loud enough or sounding good enough..

so anyway... i was looking at Fi subs because so many people like them so much, and im looking for a single sub because i still wanna have some trunk left... well i like listening to rap and pounding the woofers and such, but i also listen to things like slightly stoopid, sublime, the white stripes, alot of different kinds of music... now im wondering, will the Q hit that low end hard in the rap songs? i know that its an sq monster, but i want some loud hard hitting bass for rap too. should i spend the extra cash and get a BL? or would that not have like any sq at all?

im looking for a 12" btw.

ok cool, ill probly get one withhin the month lol, anyone recommend a good amp to push it? budget for the amp being about $350? maybe $400?

Any amp 1500w or less will suffice. If you are planning to run 1500w to it, i would reccomend getting the BP upgrade.. I am glad i did on mine.

will do, i have onel ast question...would u recommend dual 1 or 2? i dont really understand how .75 ohms/coil is wired to 1 ohm, if it can be

If your just going to be running one subwoofer, get it with dual 2 ohm. That way you can wire it down so the amp sees a final load of 1 ohm.

.75 is nominal.

My Q arrived the other day, I plan on powering it with a 9.1 in a 2.5CF enclosure....

Well not to sway your judgement and hopefully if you get it that you dont have the probelms I have had. I sometimes wonder if I just got a bad sub. First time I sent it back was because the spider landing ripped and they said I pushed it too hard, yet I only had about 800 maybe 900 if I was lucky of clean power going to it. Now the surround part ripped about 4 inches and is playing, but sounds like shit! I sillconed it and lasted less than a week with low volume. So now I am going with a different company. Hope you have better luck with it than I did. When it was broke in and playing with no problems, it sounded fantastic and was in a 1.5 sealed enclosure.

I'd say a 15" Q in 3.5cubes @ 32Hz. Will hit the lows for rap and sound very good on rock, plus you'll have plenty of trunk left.

Maybe you did get a bad sub, Ive had Q's 2 different times, and neither one of them have had any problems off my Sundown 1500d. The first one didnt have the BP, now i have the Q with the BP upgrade. Takes ~1700 like a champ.
