Hiphonics amp damaged beyond repair?

Is it the BXI1600? And if so what year? Depending which year it may or may not be worth fixing. They aren't very good amps to begin with, and usually just replacing what looks blown doesn't actually fix it, sometimes there is something else that is blown and it's not easy to figure out what

XX-Zues 1600watt

also own a 3200 watt Brutus.

I don't really trust any other amps all that much.

I've punished these amps and they always keep working 5years +

If it's not worth fixing, I need to buy a new one, under 100$ to

power 1 Earthquake sub/ported box.

Having to pay for it to be repaired and shipping two ways you may very well be better off with a different amplifier. It would really depend on the overall cost but you won't know that until you have it looked at which will take a bit of time in some/most cases.

no im doing it myself, i have the tools to do it. the question was if the board was still okay.

Do you have experience with electronics? An o-scope and the know-how to run proper diagnostics? Class Ds are a different monster than others, but if you are set on doing so then more power to you. There is more damage than just the fets though fyi.

Anyhow, the board doesn't look too charred to repair. There is only one way to find out though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

So get crackin'!

you cannot change just one mosfet. all the mosfets have to be from the same line or the amp will blow again very shortly. their also may be other reasons why they blew like power transformers, drivers, etc. you must check all rail voltages and driver output voltages. etc

i know why it blew. changing these mosfets should fix the problem, i did check with voltage meter, the others are fine.

u cant just change one mosfet, they have to come from the same line, they will not be identical. when u change one u have to change them all no matter what, even if the others are broke, ask any electronics repair person. the mosfets have to be from the same strip, so if u replace one you have to replace all of them so they are all matching

Unless the board has burned traces then you can repair it.. replace all the fets on that bank and try it out.. don't go hooking it up in your car though, because if there is still something wrong you will burn up all the parts you just replaced.. use a power source with limited amount of current, a small computer power supply works well.. watch carfully and if anything starts to get hot be ready to pull the plug and keep looking for bad fets... otherwise hook it back up and enjoy.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
