Lol Rubber Bands huh....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wacky.gif.cf4a48f9e6dfe9504ffd2c946fd2f340.gif.it does not include either suspensions. You are correct in order to acheive greater excursion you would have to increase the diameter of the spider. The Fs3 suspension is designed to increase the cone displacement without increasing the spider diameter. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif send me a message and i can redirect you to more info.yup. cotjones see's a w1 cone and i think i see kicker for the inner surround. i just didnt think a boston spider couldnt handle that tho. ive seen a mtx 9500 max out and it never compared to that. isnt 9500's suppose to be the highest excursion sub on the market? 4" p-p?. what could of been used for that then? slinkies?? i still say a xmx or parthenon spider was used. (or something close) i spoke to a guy at tc sounds and he told me "a linear 6" excursion from a 12" woofer is physically impossible to achieve. the rippled-wave nomex/woven cotton design has been around for over a strong 70 years or so and still has been proven most reliable. a spider needs to maintain its reliability and not stress and warp by having to stretch so far, and that the diameter of the spider would matter the most. the larger the spider, the more excursion you'll get.(reliably) therefor the design couldnt have been linear" (but it looked pretty linear and controlled to me). it makes since cause the spider would eventually have to get bigger than the mounting hole to do so. the 9500 12"'s spider is like over 10" in diameter to do what it does. so it couldnt be a traditional spider design unless rubber bands were used. and i dont think they were.
They probably something similar to a fly-swatter repeatedly smacking a plastic cereal bowl..how would 2 of those sound in a sedan? (1996 escort)
That's doubtful. It's a really inefficient design. You lose a ton of cone area to gain excursion and at the same time, you highly increase distortion without increasing the coil length. If you compensate by increasing the coil length, you need more motor strength to fight the greater mms and you also increase inductance. You have all these sacrifices to gain some excursion and your increase in displacement isn't even that great due to the loss of cone area so why do it when you can have a more practical design that doesn't have all the compromises?still its quite impressive. will the suspension ever hit the market?

Is this thread seriously still going?Hahaha
as said before its a 8" sub inside a 10"surround inside a 12"surround plus its dual voice coil, so that makes it 5 subs in one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gifThat's doubtful.
