Hifonics HFi 2500d vs. BRZ2400.1

My HFi is still cool to the touch after playing. The only time I've managed to even get it warm (not even hot) was after an hour long trip with my friends with everything full tilt most of the way.
I also just mounted it vertically with space underneath it for ventilation, which should cool it off even more

Like I said I had no problems with the HF 1500 but the BRZ was an even trade bc he was selling whole system I agree the Hifonics HF at that price range is unbeatable. I think I paid $160 for my HF1500 new

That's also interesting... Looks like I'll be hanging on to this amp after all!
doesnt mean they are the exact same tho. just like the crescendo bc3500 and sundown saz3500 look pretty much identical. but they have their differences, (guts and what not). rated at different voltages.

It's true that they aren't exactly the same, but the output isn't much different.

yea but between the them, the BRZ & HFI are gona clip before the AQ2200. and between the brz & hfi, the HFI is more and likely going to clip before the BRZ. Just IMO tho

Here's an interesting find... Since the HFi is supposed to be the "cheap" line and BRZ is supposed to be higher quality.. and since everyone on the forum nuthugs AQ and calls Hifonics trash

Also, a BXi 2607 for the heck of it (some small differences)

AND AQ2200

Guys, a board is just a board. (Well, sort of). Just because they have similarly sized components in the same places, means nothing. The ability of the components soldered to the board are what matters. Some manufacturers use cheap capacitors, fets, and resistors. Others use high quality, and more highly capable ones. That's where the difference comes from.

anyone that thinks that aq and hifonics are the same because the boards are layed out the same needs to do their homework.

the maxxsonics amps are actually identical with different(sometimes) heatsinks. that's the only op is right about here. A mb quart onx1.2000d = a brz1700, etc, etc

not quite as stout as these, but right behind them. Which should be expected from a 1500
The saz1500v3 and then the same class saz2500v2 are both a billion times better then either those of those amps mentioned.

Little bit of testing in Derrick's Explorer -- using my Extech power clamp meter (which always reads low vs. separate meters method) :

A 2500 watt amp outputs more than a 1500 watt amp, even if the 1500 was clamped at 2k. So I'm not really sure how my statement that the 2500s were beefier than the 1500 isn't true

I realize the only amps that are actually "identical" are the maxxsonic amps. The AQ/AB etc have the same boards but if you look closely you can see different components. However, the 2 Hifonics pictured appear to be nearly the exact same (with the exception of the BRZ having an extra knob or two on it).

I can't for sure say that they're the same amp, but I think it would be interesting to see clamp tests of both.. Actually clamps of all these amps which share this board would be interesting

any backup on this theory? or are you going by reputation?

Yep, at the amplifiers. I get the same 14.7 volt reading when they cutoff too.

Yes, they are painted. The cover is very easy to take off and repaint to whatever color of choice to match the install.
