Hifonics 1206d or 1606d for single RE SE12

I run a 1208d(same as 1206 but 2008 model instead of 2006) and it does my one RE SE12 just fine. If I could do it all over again I would get a 1610d from a Hifonics so I could have enough power for two subs.......

I'd rather have the extra headroom with the amp and just play it safe. RE's stuff is known to take more than rated RMS if it's clean, unclipped power. Besides, the 06 models didn't quite do rated power, so figure closer to 1400 max, so maybe 700 rms. Since the RE SE is rated at 600 RMS, that amp would power it very nicely. I'd rather have the extra "oomph" from my amp to power my sub cleanly than have a less powerful amp and drive the hell out of it to get loud and possibly distort and clip the signal. Just my $0.02
