Hifonic brutus 1605 amp question.

What kind of power do these amps put out?. It says 1600w at 1 ohm but I know it wont put out that much, so Im guessing around 1300w maybe. Right now I have a JBL 1200.1 powering 2 15" L5s and think they can take more than that. I was thinking about getting the hifonic brutus 1605 and give them a little more juice anyone???

Ok 1325w would be more than my JBL is putting out right now I believe.

I'd stick with the JBL. Another 100w wouldn't make a big difference.

And I was just thinkin... that might've been the 1500D/1505D.

ok here were the ratings for the BX1500D

The amp was benched @ 981w @ 13.8v @ 1ohm..
With 14v @ 10%THD, it put out around 1350w.

2ohms is probably terrible

um, with subwoofers, it wouldn't be that noticable, but it's not going to sound extremely clean. But those ratings were for the BX1500, so you might see another 100w on top of that with the 1605

2) the 981w (not 930) was at 13v and .66% thd

I think that test might have been intended specifically to make HF look bad.

I don't know why they would have recorded power at 13v and .66%. If they had at least given it 1% it probably would have eclipsed 1kw and wouldn't have looked quite so bad.

And the THD spec at 1360w is skewed, too.

If you look at a THD curve for any amp (any chart I've ever seen) THD increases very slowly vs power up to about 1%. Usually, right around 1% THD rises at a MUCH higher rate than power.

The point is, at 1% thd there wouldn't have been much decrease in power vs 10%. I'd be willing to bet it was right around 1300w, which is about what most of us would expect out of a 1500w brutus. And there wouldn't have been that 10% jumping out so negatively.

sub_urban claims he set his gains for the 1500D for 1400w and had no problems with it.
