You misunderstood your psychology teacher. Sure they are 'more normal' irl, because there are consequences in real life they fear. Here, they're less inhibited, so they use the anonymity to act in a manner they otherwise wouldn't. Again, a sign of their cowardice, or immaturity. A simple anology would be a geek who gets bullied at school so he turns into the e-bully on the net to prop up his fragile ego. Sad really. And it certainly doesn't make them 'more normal' than someone who acts responsible even in an anonymous setting. Pretty basic internet psychology.
