Third shelf. Far right. Hellraiser Blu Ray?

the only way to confirm anything is to do tests yourself. that's the ONLY way to be 100 percent sure you know what you are hearing. this brings up the old "golden ear" test by richard clark. if you don't know about him or his test google it and come back. i'm sure jim and ejschultz know wat i'm refering too.
Richard Clark is right to an extent. I do believe that there's a difference in the quality of amps, but not differences that will lead to extreme sound quality differences. There's pretty much 3 types of solid state amps: low grade, middle grade, and high grade. Most amps fall into the middle grade. In my opinion, these middle grade amps will have no difference in sound. You'll simply be compairing things like features, size, power, and the biggest price discerner, name brand. Middle grade amp brands are going to be brands like Alpine, Rockford, Kicker, Sundown, Pioneer (non WalMart models), JL, etc. Lower grade amps offer much lower quality internal components and less SQ. These are going to be brands like Sony Xplode, Kenwood, Lanzar, Audiofonics (sp?), Audiobahn, etc. High grade brands will be brands like McIntosh, Focal, Pioneer RS amps, Alpine F1, etc. There will be some differences between grades, mostly in the build quality. The quality may range from copper chassis, larger internal hand-picked components, crossovers, input types, and digital controls, among other things. Feel free to add to that list; I know there's a bunch of stuff I can't think of right now.

For all intensive purposes, pretty much everyone on here, including myself, is using middle grade equipment. With middle grade equipment, there is no need to use any special wire. You can do it, but you won't be able to tell a difference. With high grade equipment, you can use the same wire you'd use with anything else. Now, if you can afford high grade equipment, high grade wire shouldn't be a consideration. That's kind of like buying a Hummer then b*tching about gas prices. However, I'd be surprised if you could tell a difference in the wire.

Well, that's my theory on 3 hours of sleep. I'll probably take a nap then reread that to see if I want to change anything.
