kx is the models that came out befor the zx

kx = metal grills

zx = black with red bits and no grills

Kx's also have fans, zx's do not.

so whats the deal with them... i hear every body running them at like .8 ohms, and they are only rated at 2 ohms mono... conservative rating or people just like pushing the limits... and yes tommy im talkin to you.

i duno of any kicker zx amp that is rated to run below 2 ohm

were as some of the kx series were stable down to one ohm

i run mine @ 1.4 but after rise it sits around 2.2

The KX's low pass crossover only has a slope of 12db, the ZX's is 24db.

My teammate has been running his zx2500's at .7 ohms DAILY, and has yet to have any problems.

Do you actually have any experience with the kx/zx amps or are you just making stuff up?

Would I recommend .8 ohms daily? No. But are they capable of it? In the right hands, sure.

reallllly........

i ran my refurb kx 2500.1 off 2 red tops and a 90amp alty @ .7ohm dcr DAILY, with no problems for over 6 months. In fact it would only get really warm after about a half hour of constant full tilt sitting right about at 12v the whole time. Most reliable amp i've ever played with.

interesting... I havent had success running my amp at 1ohm. I had to go back and switch my dual 4s for dual 2s. I had a 105amp alternatot with a redtop under the hood and a yellowtop in the back. 1/0 throughout the car, along with the big3 upgrade under the hood and still to no avail can i get that amp to run @ 1ohm. It goes in and outta protect as i turn the volume knob up.
