You know, I can listen to this all day. When I first heard the second record, it reminded me of early PiL - the groove was syncopated to an extreme for the time.

When PE released their first single - Public Enemy #1 - I was working in radio. The single was a relatively benign-looking 7", but the Def Jam label was a sign of quality and I gave it a whirl. Needless to say, nothing sounded like it at the time. It was so raw, so pure, so volatile....

After the first record came out, I jumped at the chance to hear it and was met with this track:
