Hey, checkout this piece of sh*t.

Should have bought a JVC.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Nah, Pioneer's good, but none have ever felt rock solid in my hands. I've liked them enough to happily demo with them and highly reguard them for bang for the buck and comprehensive budget EQing, but I've never been compelled enough to live with one. I'm just a bigger JVC fan, actually bought a Pioneer one time, then swapped it out for a JVC instead.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

You don't use your remote? I use mine for everything. Rarely does my faceplate on my 880 ever get touched.
Have had probably 10 Pioneer decks and never had 1 problem with them. My ex did though, but was a cheapie Pioneer.

Now Alpine is another story for me. Always having problems with Alpine decks.
Not to mention that it IS a piece of electronics equipment. If you have you and your buddies treating the volume knob like its the last piece of chicken at the dinner table it's NOT going to last long no matter who makes it. An Alpine knob, an Eclipse knob or any other knob will eventually become damaged if it is being abused. And to whomever said Pioneer is making their headuntis cheaply: Show me one mfg that isn't using more and more plastic in their head units?? It will be interesting to hear a response to that one.

i have had my 7700 for a little over three years and it has some wear and tear on it. everything still works perfectly. I do seem to have some grounding issues though. I will probably try a different brand for the next HU i buy mainly because the ground issue.

thx, I was looking around on their site and saw a bunch of misc items, but coudnt find knob. glad u found it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

Thanks bro. I'll order it up when I get some free moneh.

And adam71, bro your right theres only so much u can expect out of a piece of electronic equip, but I also have a feeling theres better out there bec Apline seemed to have a solid buttons/face when I demo-ed them @ store. I dont really like pio's new 08' lineup either..so what ever fuc them right?

I'm too drunk right now to be typing, night guys.

'08 lineup?? I haven't seen anything on that yet. I personally didn't like the '07 lineup since there were no changes above the 8 and 9 levels. I have an 920, 860 and a P9 combo and the P9 is by far has the best construction of the 3 but then again it costs a lot more. But what is sad is how the 920 outweighs the 860 in both weight and construction. I just hope I don't have to buy a headunit for quite a while because nothing coming out these days for sale in the U.S. is worth a shit. There is a lot of units coming out with convenience in mind but FEW with SQ in mind.

Don't discount the CDA-9887....it's a solid HU. This thing has a very solid feel to it, better than the last couple of Eclipse and Pioneer units I've owned.

Well thats why I said "few" are coming out with SQ in mind. As far as the 9887 is concerned I've heard differing opinions. But I guess you'll get that with every product that has ever been launched. I like headunits that DO NOT do everything. Like with home audio for instance where you have seperates. Sure an A/V receiver is a much better value but seperates offer more flexibility and (most of the time) better sound quality.

In other words, I was talking more about the whole industry not just headunits.

My 880 is doing fine after a year and a half. Now my two previous Alpines...they both ended up with faceplate problems about a month after the warranty expired.

But I have to admit. when I first played with the Pioneer and that combination joystick/knob thing I knew a lot of people would be breaking it. Just look at how many people here are selling amplifiers that look like they were mounted underneath the car instead of in the trunk...can you imagine the abuse their head unit takes?

haha this happened to my 6800 as well, that's funny

On the way to school and had it up a wee bit louder than normal trying to stay awake. It fell off and needless to say I couldnt find the **** remote either, which tends to die within six months anyways.

It happens. Eclipse Hu ftw
