Here's how my head install turned out (5 pics)

The trim ring did not fit around the MC since the trim was originally for a dual single din install (two singles with a divider in the middle). I cut the center divider out and used a heat gun to warm the trim ring up since it was 1/8th of an inch too small to go around the radio. Using heat, I formed the trim around the radio and made it fit. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

The retro look of the MC worked out great with the retro interior of the IS300. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif I am going to actually colormatch the knobs from silver to frost mica on the MC so they'll match the climate knobs and I will be satisfied. It all came together well and clean. I'm very pleased with it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Oh, and I found this too ironic not to take a pic. I was fitting the kit to the climate and looked down to see this. I didn't even think about it until they were sitting together.

Next H/U I get will definately be a Mcintosh. Is that the double din from the subarus in japan that you have? Looks good.
Sure is //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif This one was imported from Tokyo.

They have been on ebay for as much as $800 and sold for that, but this one came very inexpensive at around half that. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I had to change the color of the illumination from green to amber on it to match the interior. Came out good.

Pfft.

McIntosh.

Why in the world would you invest your money on THAT garbage?!? n00bx.....

Just kidding, fella. Great looking unit and a sweet looking install. People that are unfamiliar with McIntosh gear will likely never know it isn't OEM gear //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

Well OEM is Eclipse (Fujitsu Ten) so the OEM radio sounds pretty good, but the eclipse amp is weak and the speakers (primarily the rear ones) are really not that great. By factory system standards however the unit rocks pretty well.

I remember reading about this radio in Forbes a year ago and the guy reviewing the car was so impressed with the radio he practically ignored the car he was reviewing (lol) it was this article actually: http://www.forbes.com/2001/01/29/0129test.html

That pretty much sealed the deal for me after he compared it to all after market systems on the market. I decided when I was ready to do an install in my IS, this was the ticket. It's powering EQT's and ART .2 amps, so I'm very pleased with the sound.

Full tank of gas! Wish I could say the same
Gotta keep that fuel pump nice and cool //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif (not to mention keeping the trash out of the fuel filter from the bottom of the tank).
