Howd they sound Active? That much better than passive? What was your crossover point? Thanks Racerx250.

Im getting a 9887 for my HU. I've had a lot of kicker equipment. Im looking at the Kenwood Excelon XR4s or the PDX4.150. Open to any and all suggestions.

I wouldn't use alpines pdx class D amps for a sq setup.

I think the major difference with them being active was using time alignment. That alone was worth the swap even using the same x-over points. My advice would be to play around with it and see what fits your ears best. Start at 3.3KhZ. That's the factory point.

I would run them active off of a Hifonics Series VII Gemini. They go for ~$175.

Yeah Im not really impressed with the pdx. I haven't heard the kenwood yet but some say its better than the pdx.

I loved the Hertz components though. I just want to put the best amp I can on them without a salesmans biased opinion.

i picked up my genesis for 400 shipped. its 100x4 @ 4 ohms. class g/h, so its efficient, and sounds clean as hell.

i've got an old school zed built us acoustics usa4050 (4x50 @ 4 ohms... ridiculously underrated) i'll sell ya for 125 shipped. small footprint too, for a class ab, its about 9"x6".

I have those speakers and love them. I am running them off of

a kicker ZX700.5. I didn't bridge the amp so only 75 watts to each speaker?

I would use the Audison brand amps you can find on ebay.

They're made by the same company as hertz and are some

the best sound quality amps out there.
