this will be going in a 2003 gmc sierra single cab. the sub will be a FI BL 12. the volume of the box comes to right around 2.5 cubes. it will be tuned to 39 hertz. what i need to know is if the port is correct ( height and width wise)? thanks for any help

also i forgot to ask, would it sound better from the drivers seat with the sub right behind it and the port behind passenger, or vice versa??

i really want to keep the port at 12.5 high so the construction of the box will be easier... so should i make the port width 3" or 4"??? and the 39 hz is what was recommended on the fi website... should i make it 33hz??? i heard 33hz is pretty much the best sound.

yes 33hz is much better and yes opening up the port to about 3-4'' will help but it will make the port length longer and also port volume bigger so you will need the box a bit bigger...but 39hz is just a competition fart box...you sure you werent just looking at th fs of the woofer...

ok so if i make the port 12.5 high, 3 wide tuned to 33hz, calculations say the port length needs to be 32". i really dont want to make it that long... are there any alternatives, or just flat out port redesigns?

You don't need to make it too much wider, as it's not terribly small, but going to 2.25" wide and rounding over the port opening will help. The BL's can work in pretty small boxes, so I wouldn't worry about reducing the box size down to 2ft^3 in order to get the correct port in there.

As a matter of fact, make the port 2.25" wide, and 26" long overall, and you'll have 2.2ft^3 at 33hz.

not to familiar with aero ports. i know what they are ive just never used one... i'm assuming it would be alot easier as far as the box building goes??? but which port style will sound better??

i think i'll just go with the regular port... 12.5" high, 2.25" wide, 26" long, box at 2.2 cubes tuned to 33hz. do you think this will be the best sound i can get for the limited space????

also do you think this will sound better and be louder than my current setup...--- 3- jl 10w3v2, on a jl 1000/1 ( which will be the same amp i'll use on the fi bl 12) ???

does the box design look good though, like i said based off of my limited space???

i'm just trying to get at loud as possible in my single cab without doin a blowthrough, replacing my console, or humping the steering wheel.
