i have seen a lot of people lately asking on forums whats the biggest box that will fit n this or that and when people tell measure out their tape trunk they do so. but the wrong way. often they just measure out the opening of the trunk and disregard if the box will properly fit into the trunk.

then they go and get a box design spend $100 on materials and build the box and it doesnt fit at all.

for everyone trying to make a box or get your max dimensions along with some dimensions to be able to slide in check this video out.

id suggest using the straight piece of wood he uses to measure out the depth and height with the same size wood you would use to build your box. and account for your placement as well all the way back to the seats is thats how you want it.

should give you a pretty good idea if not perfect fitment of a slide n box with your outside dimensions.

The guy who made that video is a member of this forum. He has a lot of other great fabrication videos too. I especially like the one he did about kerfed ports

yea his videos are very good and helpful im bored and ran across this video and it made me think of the people ive seen lately online forums asking about how to measure out a trunk for a box.

If they want to push the limits of the trunk area I always have them build one out of cardboard and show a video of it going in with the stress on the fact that cardboard bends and wood doesn't. Works very well.
