Help with woofer and amp selection

Hey all,

I've been out of the car audio business for a while, thanx to college, but i'm looking to begin rebuilding the system I have in my car now. The car is a 99 trans am that I made a custom fiberglass box to fit in the driver side storage compartment max. mount depth of aprox. 9" and aprox cu. ft. is .63 I would like to put one 8" sub perferrably ported (I rather the sound of ported enclousres). My main goal is sound quality and build quality I'm not trying to set any world records. I was considering going with a JL W3 or W7 along with one of the mono channel amps but I read in a few forums that I can get the same quality and power for less money. Price range around 200-400 dollars.

I exhausted all my efforts of searching for good quality amps and subs that would fit my application so any help in point me in a direction would be appreciated.

The Sound Splinter RL-i 8 will compete with some of the best 8's out there. I have a bias since I own one, but just sharing my pov, if you want to go with an 8" sub. But you are going to probably need more space in that box for one.

Thanx for the option denim, I some more searching after I posted just for 8 inch subs and came across these so I looked them up on soundsolutionsaudio and the seem empressive. Why do you say that I wouldn't have enough space on the site it show vented volumes of .2-.4 cu ft. I was looking for the volume of the woofer but couldn't find it.
