hello i have a pioneer DEH-P4000UB and under equalizer custom settings 2, there is low mids and highs, and then the frequency, then q factor, now my options for q factor is 2n-1n-1w-2w, could someone please help me understand what these numbers and letters stand for and how I use them? I looked in the manual but it doesn't give much information about it

thx dan

It refers to the range of tones (bandwidth) the filter affects.

The idea is that you might want to do something broad, like "increase bass in general", in which case you'd use the 2-w or 1-w setting.

But there are times when you want to get specific -- eg, if there is just one note that plays way too loud and doesn't blend in at all, you might use the 1-n or 2-n setting to affect just that note, or notes that sound very similar.

likely the w stands for "wide bandwidth" and n for "narrow bandwidth". You'd have to look at the manual or maybe display to see the exact order. I'd guess 2w-1w-1n-2n, but can't be sure.

well have all i have is 2 door speakers in a s2000 and all im trying to do is take the base out of them as much as possible, so there is almost none at all, so i set the low frequecy to 40hz being that is the lowest i can go, so i would want to go with a 1n or a 2n? im not to sure what one is lower but in the book its listed as 2n-1n-1w-2w so im guessing thats from least to greatest, idk you guys tell me l0l also if maybe you can try to explain it a diffrent way bcuz i still dont understand it all that well

If you want to use the eq ( if you dont have subs) then set it to 40-50hz and use a wide 1w or 2w and lower it by however much it takes to make them not distort. However a better solution would be to keep going through your audio settings until you see HPF, or high pass filter, and set this to 125hz or maybe a bit higher or lower depending on what kind of speakers you have. This will filter out all frequencies to your door speakers that are under the frequency at which you set it.

Im almost positive that 2n would be the narrowest, then 1n, then 1w then 2w being the widest. But really you should use the HPF it will completely cut the bass off depending on the frequency you set it at.

i am youing the hpf but i am still getting more bass then i need when the the volume is at max, you think it would be a good idea to set the low 2 40 and q factor 2 2n then maybe the hpf might be more effective?
