hey america, now im drivin a 91 Ford Ranger Extended Cab and the other day outta the blue i decided to buy 2 JL audio W3's these will be the 2nd set of subs ive ever had in my truck (first was professionally installed and stolen:crap:.
so now i have 2 JL audio W3s they're 4 OHM each (version 1's) and 300 watt rms each. now... i purpously bought these subs because they're lower power compared to most out there, i also have an offbrand 300 by 1 mono amplifier, i was thinkin of installing this in paralel because to tell you the truth i spent all my money on the subs. and i was reading this thing and it says 150 watts rms:crap: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif :crap: so obviously 150 and 300 dont match. from what i have heard (and this comes from many people) eitherim going to blow my amp straightaway, or it'll be fine but wont kick as hard as it could. to tell you the truth is my first time actually putting together a system and i know very little about compatability. i have some people sayin that it'll work fine as long as rms from sub matches rms from amplifier, others say get an amp with rms between subs rms and maximum more like 3 quarters of the way. and then i have this one guy that used to work at circuit city talking about ohm's matching yeah just a headache
im havin a horrible time trying to find a good amp to power these beasts for a decent price.
so yeah im pretty frustrated with this
because i havn't a clue what im doing, all i know is that i have some decent subs and that i want them to kick, and not spend a lot on an amp (by a lot i mean for right now under 120)
thanks for your time and please help me clear this up
