Well, I'm about to recone my DP. I've only had it for about 4 months, but after getting a small tear in the surround (don't exactly know what happened, but I suspect the surround just had a bad spot. Nothing against IA thought) it proceeded to get worse and ended up where it is now. I received the recone from IA about 2 weeks ago, but just haven't had the time to mess with it, and because I don't yet have CA glue. (HELP IS NEEDED BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW EXACTLY WHAT I NEED TO GET AS FOR GLUE AND ACTIVATOR).

However, this sub was still pounding hard before I finally took it out of the box to fix it.

Any help, or tips and tricks on doing recones would be greatly appreciated.

Anyway, here's the pictures......

some bob smiths CA glue from a hobby shop...i used the clear maxi cure and mine came out perfect....no problems...just make sure you shim the gap correctly and dont pull the shims too early...24 hours is how long i waited for mine....i'd rather wait a day then have to recone again cuz of a coil rub...just be patient with it...no need to rush.

OK. It kinda makes me mad considering the sub was barely even broken in when the surround started to rip. Oh well I gues.. IA has great customer service from what I've experienced so far.

just remember to pull the shims before you put the dust cap on. one of the last builds i did i left the shims in. it made a horrible noise. i had to cut the dust cap back off, pull the shims then put another dust cap back on.

i have also found that a ring cut out of mdf & some locking clamps helps with rebuild.

Thanks. I really liked your writeup on that recone.
Anyone else have any tips? Maybe a website where I could get CA glue and activator (if you guys think activator is necessary because I'm not in that big of a hurry).
you can get ca glue & activator from nick at incriminator or bob smiths adhesives has a web site you can order it from.
