Super noob here in need of some guidance...

Car: 2000 Toyota Celica GTS

Bought to date:

-Alpine SPX-17PRO Comp Set

-Alpine 10" Type X Sub

-Alpine PDX 1.1000 Amp

-Alpine PDX 4.150 Amp

Still need:

-wiring (people tell me to go knukonceptz but i'm not sure which package(s) i need, so please leave a suggestion or link if possible)

-don't know if i should stick with stock rear speakers. what exactly do mids do? should i add a pair of mids or speakers or just stick with the stock speakers?

-i'm thinking about getting a new hu also. i'm thinking about getting an alpine x001 or a 9887 or going old school with a classic hu. suggestions?

Final note: i will have a custom box built for me and the entire system installed by someone with a bit of experience. i'd like to be prepared as fully as possible on installation day. thanks in advance for any and all help!

i like the set up. get a ported box at 32hz it'll sound good!

an i agree with no rear speakers. if u saved money for a front and rear fill just spend it all on a nice front stage with a nice amp.

and those 9887 HU's are great. never used a x001, personally i like the look of the 9887 better, but alpine makes great HU's so either way you'll get a quality product.

nice car i plan on gettin my self a 2002 in about a year.

32hz? i was also told 36hz. what's the difference and is it a big one?

I was thinking about going with the 9887, but now i'm thinking about going with a flip-out. anyone have any thoughts on a flip out? or a cheaper 2-din?

i do love my celi, it's a pretty trustworthy car.

any more input from anyone else?
update: just bought an Alpine 9887.
Good purchase you won't be dissapointed with it. I agree with the guy a few posts up, I'd do a ported box like 33hz or so instead of 36. Will get a decent amount lower, especially with that woofer. Just be careful with the 1k daily on that sub, I've heard they are very touchy when it comes to that power rating or a lil more.

Personally you prolli could have done better for the price of that sub.

well i figured i'd turn the gain down a bit for the sub. i will def go a lil lower on the hz. prob 33 as you mentioned marlo. as for the cost in general, i've been watching and waiting for the prices i wanted. bought everything used (but in good condition). happy with what i've accumulated thus far. almost at the home stretch. all i need now is some wiring, an enclosure and help with the install
