help me please? 8454 or 7000?

so i have decided my next HU will be either the eclipse 8454 or the eclipse 7000...i do not plan on going active id just like a little more control over my speakers i guess is the easiest way to say it...i dont use a ipod so that doesnt play any roll...so if you have any experience with these units please let me know....any pros and cons you can think of please!!!

doesn't the 8454 have a higher pre-out voltage? Did you ever look at specs side by side?

yeah the 8454 has 8volts...ive never looked side by side because some of the stuff i dont have a clue to what it will do for me but i have looked at both units specs

I think you should be happy with both. But going with the 7000 might be a better idea since it's a newer unit and will be easier to find support?

the one thing im not too sure on is like all the "sound" settings and what not...will they only benefit me if im going active or what? like i beleive the 8454 if you are using the EQ's you cant control the sub? but on the 7000 you can...and i think the 7000 you can even set the xovers for the rear speakers as well....i just want more control without going active...

Get the 7000 - i upgraded to it from a CD8454 and it was an upgrade in every way. 8v vs 5v preouts was the only negative change, and it didn't make much of a difference (just changed gains a little)

I had both and thought both were good units. As far as which unit gives you more control,

I would also say the cd7000.
