hey

I currently own diamond s600 silk hexs powered by a zx450.2. I dont like them at all they are very harsh and fatiguing to the ear.

I was wondering what comps i should look at i has these in mind

rainbow germs

rainbow profi cross line

polk sr6500

boston z6

diamond d9

also im debating whether or not to sell the zx450.2 or keep it.

all depends if it is worth going active or not and how much power the comps i want need.

thanks for all your help

I haven't looked back with my SR's...after the break in period, amazing......

I have 200w rms going to mine and the tweeter protector in the cross-over glows like crazy on higher volume, careful with your wattage

Here is how I made my decision, hopefully it can help you analyze how to make yours:

1) The tweeter needed to play well off axis.

2) The tweeter needed to mount like a traditional driver (It is an aesthetic thing)

3) The mid-bass needed to be rather shallow.

4) The mid-bass needed to emphasize the "kick-bass" region. I felt it was lacking in my old install.

5) The two drivers needed to work together. I mean can they be appropriately crossed.

So, just list your requirements. They probably aren't unique enough where no one has a suggestion.

------------

I went with the profi kick and cal27. I still haven't heard them but for a brief second because I am always in between installs. Hopefully, I can afford to get my amps next week (pdx 1.1000; 4.150) and take a listen.

Sorry....what I am saying is that oftentimes one goes way over budget during the course of an install.
I only intended to spend $300 but after view the options available and what I wanted to accomplish, the budget increased. That is what I mean by elastic.

now i follow, very true.

yes i have considered going active and mixing and matching mids and tweets but i am unaware of what i should get.
seas neo alum. type for about 30.00 apeice very smooth tweets and they do sparkle without the harshness of a metal tweet, this is a very nice tweeter you can get them from solen.ca or madisound.com

the tweeters will be going in the stock location i believe its on axis they are 1 inch in diamater

im looking for something thats not harsh, and fatiguing to the ear.

i hear great tings about the cal 27 tweeter

flipx let me know how they sound when u get ur amps in

3.5 has one for sell IIRC.

Will do.

I have my set of Rainbow Profi Van CS365 that I might be interested letting go off. As my interest have changed they are in great condition. Have original box everything. Retial is around a $1000.00 for a set new IIRC. Mabey we can work something out.
