help deciding on a new laptop

my HP is about to crap out on me. its almost 2 years old so even though its under warranty for almost 1 year im wanting to replace it. im still going to let HP fix it and just let my mom have this one i guess.

what i need it for?

internet

typing

photograph / photograph editing

watch UFC fights

movies

id really like something like my old Dell that allowed me to use just about all types of SD cards in it without an external reader. want at least 3 or 4 USB's

i dont use yahoo, msn, etc.... so thats not a concern.

has to be fairly fast with a large memory.

what should i look for?

or any suggestions on laptops i should look at.

$ as always is an issue. i cant afford to spend to much. the cheaper the better but has to be worth it.

Lenovo is the way to go, but not when looking for cheap.

my IBM has been great for almost 6 years now and is still fast compared to new laptops today

maybe ill get lucky and find a nice used one. you are the 2nd person to say IBM. i didnt think they were that good anymore but i dont know much about computers really

It's just about time for me to get a new one, too, but I'm too broke to afford another one. My screen died and I have to use an external monitor. I've been running it hard for 3 years, and it still runs like new. I suppose that's because I'm not an idiot. My parents's computers are slow as molasses because they think McAfee will fix everything. And I can't convince them to let me reinstall Windows.

not much at all really. i cant justify spending a lot on another computer/laptop

since really alot of people are getting netbooks nowadays.. for 400 u can get a netbook.
