Hello i am a Late Blooming BASS Head lol

I am new to forums so please overlook me being a noob all the way around.

I have 2 12" Kicker CVR's in single sub ported box, powered by a Pioneer GM-5500T Amp. I also have 2 $5 yard sale 10" subs in a sealed box, powered by a Dual XPR522 amp.

Both systems hit really good alone. When i added the 2nd system to my car i thought this is going to be mind numbing Bass, but i am having some issues. Individually the sound great but, when i have both at about 1/3 volume they seem to start loosing power, or kind of like falling on them selfs. Sorry thats the best description i can come up with, because if i turn the volume back down alittle they come right back into it at a higher volume and quality.

Youve got some nasty cancellation issues. A basic audio wave has a has peaks and low points like a sideways S. Whats happening is the peak of one set is hitting at the same time as the dip from the other subs. When this happens the two waves cancel each other out to produce a very low level of output.

In simplest terms its 1 + -1 = 0

Yep, basic waveform cancellation. Summed bass sound pressure waves can be horrible in total even with only one subwoofer, which is why bas amplifier's outputs often have phase reversal capability, because sometimes a simple reversal of sound pressure waves can result in an overall better sound.

And sometimes, mixing drivers and enclosures can result in even better overall sound! Ya never know until you try them!

Sorry but I disagree with this post. Every driver can have different characteristics even when in the same sizes. Different enclorures have different tuning specs so there is sonic delay between them. This is what causes cancellations. They ONLY way that would work is if the subs had boxes with the EXACT same frequency response and the EXACT same cone mass and the EXACT same sonic delay. You should never mix drivers. Guys with 6 18"s dont need other subs because the only thing that limits a subs ability to play notes is the enclosure that its in. Yes people use different size SPEAKERS to play different frequency ranges but for proper sound they have to have crossovers to protect them from crossing into another speakers zone and causing cancellation. So in short, no

So basically, IN A PERFECT WORLD...

And any auto audio install is far from a perfect world!
