Hello all, new member here. I could use some Amp help for a custom bike faring build.

I have a custom VTX with a modified Street glide faring with 2 outer 61/2 speakers and 2 4" speakers where the speedo and tach were.

I have a PYLE marine amp ( supposidly 400 watts) ( doubt that for real) but i had to cut out the radio section of the faring to make a better lean of the faring.

Ok i currently use a MP3 player that plugs into a port on the faring which connnects to the amp and then to a volume wired control know to adjust volume when riding rather then trying t play with the volume on the mp3 player itself.

I just cant get enough power to push the speakers and want a better amp but it has to be able to work off of a MP3 player or cell phone speaker out put plug and i would like to still be able to use the volume control which operates the volume straight from the amp.

Is this even still possible with another amp set up rather then the Pyle i currently have?

All help is appreciated as the bike is really set up clean and I just need the sound to kick *** to match the rest of the bike.

Thanks for any assistance.

Some more information would help us help you...

What size wire are you using for power?

Where is the power wire connected and where is the ground wire connected?

Exactly which Pyle amp do you have?

Does anyone know if i add to the amp i have now a Alpine KTP-445 if that would UP the sound quality?

was told If I use the pyle unit basically as the "head unit" as i do now, and have the gains turned down on it. The Alpine unit provides the amplification for the speakers. Any gain adjustment happens off that amp.

any thoughts on this

Might look into the new Zed MIKRO amp lineup. Very tiny, efficient, and will make rated power. Running an amp off your MP3 player should be as easy as just buying a mini stereo to RCA cable at radio shack.

You could set the gain on the amp high, set the volume on the MP3 player high, and install something like this for a "volume knob"

AXXESS® AALC - Remote RCA Level Controller

Pyle generally makes really poor equipment and the stereo jack on an MP3 player isn't known for high quality sound AND your typical 4" full range speaker also has it's limitations so you're fighting an uphill battle here but there's certainly room for improvement.

Basically the Pyle amp I have is the same basic unit. bridged to a 2 channel basically for the best sound we could get.

Amazon.com : Pyle PLMRMP3A 4-Channel Waterproof MP3/iPod Marine Power Amplifier : Vehicle Amplifiers : Car Electronics

No, it's not even close to what hispls mentioned.

Do not keep the Pyle amplifier if you add a different amplifier. You should not feed one amplifier with the outputs of another amplifier. Alpine KTP-445U should be a good amplifier for this application. Arc Audio is known for motorcycle audio so you might want to look for a local dealer.
