Yes and no. Yes to get you familarized with the characters and no because when it comes down to it, it is just a witty/action packed film. Is up to you I guess.

If you saw pan's labyrinth, it's basically that but with hellboy characters. It's all this elf fairy shit.

I saw a couple of weeks ago, it was very funny. I liked the flashback to the Smart before the weight loss, haha.

Watched it today. I liked it, plot was a little meh, I was expecting a tad more but the first one's plot didn't blow me away either.

All in all, a solid "summer" movie, I was entertained and that's all I really hoped to get out of it.
