I have a 24x36 garage, but is partitioned off @ 16x24 ( garage side ) and 20x24 ( woodworking , storage etc )

I need some kind of heater for the actual garage part ( so about 400 sq ft , 3000 cubic feet ) where my car will be in.. It is fully insulated and drywalled.. So what do you think? Ive only used forced air heaters, but even the smallest forced air seems to heat up very quick, but evaporate quickly as well, which kind of drew me to convection.. thoughts?

Forced air

If it was my garage I'd be making space for a small corn stove... or be looking at burning wood... Thats not always practical depending on where you live, though...

Burning propane is going to be expensive... if you only need to keep yourself warm and arn't worried about the actual temperature of the garage you might think about going with an IR heater (or two)...

I have a cieling mounted propane heater with a built in fan and thermostat.
I was thinking one of these until I realized I dont wanna run ANOTHER direct line to the other side of the garage for a permanent fixture, nor do I wanna rip open a wall now that its 20 degrees for another vent kit.. This would have been the way to go from the beginning, but for now, I just want something quick, easy and portable.. Im not living in there or anything, just want something to heat it up when Im out there working on the car or watching tv //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I have a convection heater in my bedroom and that bitch can get my room so hot you feel like you're in a sauna.
Which Is why Im thinking the convection.. Unlike the others it doesnt need a 110 circuit, or a vent , and its not loud like the torpedo units.. But should have plenty of heat to keep the garage @ 60 degrees or so for a few hours even on the low settings ( 30k btu/hr ) for probably half the winter

Just gather up all the crap in your garage, push it into a corner and light it on fire. You will be toasty in no time. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

I gotz a "pot belly" stove in my shop. It kinda makes clothes stinky, but you shouldn't wear nice clothes when you're working anyway...
...and you get to be all sweaty and stanky so the wood smell just adds to the ambience. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

I burn coal in it too. It's not meant for coal, but I don't give a shit. As soon as it's too beat down to use anymore, I'll get another from the local classifieds for about $75...

Coal is good except I always found it to be exceptionally hard to get going.
Lighter fluid works wonders. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I don't like using coal at all. I only use it because it's cheap as hell...or even free. Coal mining is the #1 occupation in the area and my brother is a foreman at one of the biggest sites. I can get a couple tons of coal every winter for nada...
