I guess its possible to loose a certain frequencies. I thought that people usually lost 20kHz and went down. 22k is beyond what most people can hear.

oh yea it's up there, I actually thought it was my computer muting the tone but my wife hears it so it's just me I guess? and yea loud, soft, gone! then loud?

i had an audiology dept. at a medical university let me self-administer a 1/3 oct hearing test and they gave me FSPL results and not just a HL scale.

the problem with the online test is that the signals are not clean and there is noise in the signal that you can detect. you may not be hearing a pure tone but some lower frequency noise associated with it.

for me, in the audiology chamber, the 18k tone was audible. but that room has a very low noise floor. so while i could detect it, obviously i don't consider it within my range due to how much loss of sensitivity i have.

i've generated my own tones and tested myself in the office (closed head phones) and i thought i could hear higher, easier. but a true setup that is noise free yeilds different results.
