Headphones

As of now my budget has increased greatly. Looking at around $120-$150.

So far Ive narrowed it down to a set of AKG 240 Studios, Sennheiser HD555's, Shure SRH840's, Sony ZX700s, or a pair of Audio Technica M50's.

Oh snap missed this. The Sennheiser HD555's for sure. If you can double your budget you can get the HD600's, which will spoil you for life.

They seem to get the most favorable reviews for a headset that has balanced response. The AT's are bass heavy Ive read as well.
The Sennheiser HD555 are VERY balanced, not boomy at all, and not THAT far below the HD600 in SQ, which have been used in recording, mixing, and mastering many an album.

I have a pair of Bose IE2 i was parting till my sister left all the **** tips in Mexico...
You should thank her lol. Bose isn't... umm... very good.

Sorry to come across as a know it all, but I'm a headphone fanatic. Been into audiophile headphone stuff for 10 or 12 years.

My favorite pair are Grado RS1's, they go for around 1k or did when I bought mine, and I'd almost trade them for a pair of 300 something dollar HD600's. Grado SR225's are really sweet for "forward" sounding music, and go for about 200.00 . They are my go to "rock and roll" headphones.

Dig it, post 666 is about one of my hobbies!

thus the reason i was selling them :p. I love my skullcandy FMJ headphones better and were WAY cheaper as well

A 100.00 bill will get you in a pair of Grado SR80i's. Don't be surprised if you get hooked on another expensive hobby after you listen to a REALLY good set of headphones though.
Not really a fan of the Grado style. I already know its expensive and Im already diving in with either an Fiio E5 or E6 as well for days Im stuck at university.

Be careful or the headphone bug will bite! You'll have 6 pairs of headphones hanging around your place, 3 or 4 headphone amps, and a rediculously expensive CD player for your source. But when you throw on those phones, lay back, and the music is IN your head, you'll think every penny was a penny well spent!

I went with the Shure SRH750DJ's. They are basically a less analytical SRH840 and slightly more compact minus the headset bulk.
Pics or it didn't happen. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

By the way, how do you like them mids and tweets and what are you driving them with?
