Headphones?

Long story short, my $10 Sony earbud headphones don't cut it. Today my third pair blew. And I mean that in a literal way, the're the signature crackle of a blown driver coming from the right bud.

Now I'm totally inexperienced as far as getting headphones go, so my question is, if you had $20 and a need for earbud heaphones, what would you buy?

I'm the same, I don't like in-ear phones either, however I have heard good things about the Ety er4p & Shure e[#]c's. I'm still confident in my stance of stating in-ear phones can't produce a nice strong bass...it may be clean & detailed, but as far as output, I just don't see it happening.

I've got the ER6i and love them. There are two different type of buds, one is basically a canalphone and the other is an earplug. Both are form-fitting, for lack of a better word, and fit perfectly in your ear. Sound is great too, altough I think the canalphone sounds better. After awhile the earplugs start to screw with me, something about the entire outside world being blocked out is strange.

I use these http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0006BBIZO/103-6009943-7963062?v=glance&n=172282&n=507846&s=electronics&v=glance

not too shabby.

brother has these http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000092YQW/103-6009943-7963062?v=glance&n=172282&n=507846&s=electronics&v=glance

sony's are more bassheavy, while the panny's are more neutral. my apologies for being 10 bucks above your budget //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

I think I'm gonna have to invest in a set...seems like that's what I need. There's too many distractions going on in my apartment whenever I want to listen to music; cars rolling by with bass, airplanes overhead, refrigerator & computer hum/noise, impact noise from the people upstairs, etc.

I'd probably never go out in public with them, however. I love discretely pausing my music when I'm on the train cause I realize people are talking about something I'd be interested in hearing. If I had headphones where I couldn't hear, even when the music isn't playing, would be a no-no.

There's really something about that refrigerator hum...it causes me a lot of subconscious uneasyness.

Way above your price stated, but the Shure E2c's are worth every penny. To be honest, I have tried the more expensive Shure's, and they didn't sound enough better to justify the cost to me anyway. The E2c's take some getting used to, they can make your ears sore at first, but they really block out the noise. I use mine when I mow the lawn and can barely hear my 2-stroke edger or mower with my ipod turned up 1/3 volume. That is noise isolation, and it doesn't use batteries or anything silly. They are pricey @ $100 or so, but worth it inmo
