Ryan, I also am not a supporter of Bush or of us STILL being over there trying to help establish Democracy in a country that despises that very notion......I understand that, and am definitely glad that you're doing it instead of me. I just can't see myself volunteering to go into a war that I think is completely ridiculous and uncalled for. But more power to ya for doing it, hope you come back alive...

but when you're in your early 20's, and you're single and don't have much else going on in your life that would keep you home in the States, you can go overseas to Iraq, or any other hazardous zone and get a lot of extra pay and benefits that you wouldn't normally get if you were just deployed anywhere overseas. You get those extra payouts while you're over there, and on top of that, a lot of times you might be able to get paid tax free for the entire time you're deployed in a zone considered "hazardous".
While you're playing in the sand over there for a year, you can tend to save up QUITE a good chunk of money for when you get back home.
I feel you, man. I'm not satisfied with our Administration in charge by any means, but I DO believe in having a sense of duty and purpose to serve for our Country.its not even that i dont have a wife or kids or anything. yes im early 20's. 22 to be exact. i do have a g/f that i would marry today if it was possible. and yes the pay is good when u are over there but im lookin at the future payouts. ill be retiring after 20yrs of being in the military. the more active duty time u have the more u get paid for retirement. im lookin to pay like 25,000 off on the house while im over there and that should save me like 100,000 in interest. there is alot of factors that made me choose this.
my g/f and mom is broken right now cuz they know i volunteered for it but its why i joined the military. part of my job duty. makes me feel bad that they are hurt cuz of it but its also something thats gotta be done.
Thank you and God Bless. Come back alive man.Alright well my unit readiness nco gave me a call yesterday asking for volunteers to go to iraq and i decided i would go. So i volunteered. Probably another year deployment. My last deployment was 18 months in Afghanistan from MAR2005-OCT2006. So as long as i have internet you might see me on the forums but all my builds and van and what not is gonna be on a freeze for AWHILE. Its too bad cuz i just bought my amps and maxxlink.
Not exactly sure when im leaving but could possibly be next week. Didnt give us much time to get things straight around the house and my power of attorney and all the stuff that needs to get done.
Well i guess this is goodbye lol FOR NOW. but ill be back. Might have a suprise for Slamology this year while im gone.
