Head unit won't flip down correctly

I have a 9856 in my 2001 Tacoma that doesn't flip down because of fitting issues. The plastic on the dash is so close to the deck that the little clearance that is necessary for deck to fold does not exist.

Has anyone else experienced similar problems?

Any solutions besides trimming?

Also, I have tried to use the trim piece that fits around the deck but this does not allow the dash pieces to fit correctly......And I know I can put the deck on the bottom and the tray on the top but I'm trying to avoid that.

Where exactly is it hitting?

The top of the deck makes contact with the plastic on the console which doesn't allow it to swing open.

Sounds like you need to space it out of the dash a bit. Either that or get a different brand install kit.
