head unit wiring harness melted>?

well on my quick drive to the store today i notice my hu cutting in and out and when i stopped the car smoke was coming from the dash...i quickly pulled the unit out to see the ground wire had melted and was blazing hot....i burned my hand also...but besides the point how could this happen

ground bolt was loosen over time or wasn't properly secured during initial installation. how long ago was the head unit installed?

Yep, most likely excessive resistance from a poor connection.

**** the hu was put in maybe a month and a half ago

im gonna take it to the shop that did it.....only reason i didnt do it is the previous owner of the car fucked some wiring up so the shop had to redo it
