Head Unit Troubles

Hey guys I just bought a new car, 98 golf. And it came without a radio or any speakers. The previous onwer said the radio worked but he took it out to sell it. Today i went to install my Alpine CDE-102 and ran into some trouble, mind you this isnt my first install but by no means am i an expert. This is the second time ive installed this same radio (first time took 15 mins without any problems). Anyways i pulled the wiring harness out off the gaping hole in the dash and the wires touched, stupid me i know. I heard the wires spark so now im just wondering what the damage could be. Do i need a new harness and adaptor? or is it something as simple as a fuse. 9/10 i dissconect my battery before working on anything in the car, the one time i didn't this happens. (Long story short the live wires of the harness touched eachother and i heard a crackle, this was before i connected any new wires). Any insight would be greatly appreciated, Im really getting into the car audio stuff and want to learn everything i can. Sorry if this was long and thanks for reading!

check your head room fuse, as well as your light fuses. that should be your only problem. same happened to me

no prob. check all fuses just to be sure, but that should be the only problem

Yeah will do. I just need this system going. i had everything going for exactly 4 days in my last car then my ****** blew. These little issues drive me crazy.

All fuses checked out =/ so now im lost again i for the radio fuse which was fuse #22 which along with all the others it was in working order. Im just wondering if its the cars harness which would ****. Im gonna try to figure out how to use the ignition wire however i have very little idea how to do that right now. I need to do alot more reading.
