head unit trouble

Ok, I tried messing with installing a head unit in my Murano tonight and Nothing. It got power and all, and static to the speakers but no music. I just wanted to try to work with the head unit before the amp and subs came. Maybe its because it's not hooked up to the amp, or maybe the wiring harness is wrong, although that it says it fits my car. Anyone ever go through this before and can help me out? thanks.

Hello !! I could be a great help.. i own a Murano and I'm not even sure how you put an aftermarket radio in... What year is you murano? I have an 03'. I currently found out that the radio is completly coneccted via circuitboard with the ac/heater controls and much more.. it makes it very complicated to go aftermarket... the only way to do this is to keep the factory there and add another head unit while the factoruy is still connected. I know why your radio isn't working. ... you have a bose system in your murano.. with that said you may want to research bose speakers and systems and how they work in detail... i havent gotten there on my project yet, but what i do know is that the speakers for bose are specially made only to work with bose head units... so if you chang it to an aftermarket unit, you have to get an expensive converter i think.. but the best way to go is to replace the speakers themselves.

Hope this helps ! Mail me anytime.. I know lots more about this vehicle and i'm learning more as i go ..

here's my project.. remember i just started, and should be finished in a month or less !!

(I'm adding an aftermarket Carputer/CarPC... .onboard diagnostics, internet, gps, bluetooth wifi.. it even wipes your ***!! ) lol j/k

1) Like he said.. You have a BOSE system. And You most likely need a GMOS-1 / LAN1-2-3. Those on about $140 & up.

... You're murano has Radio RETINTION, meaning when you cut off your car, the music still plays until you break circuit by opeing a door.

... Your factory HU is connected to everything is your car, from A/C, heat, to Odometers and Fuel Pump... Easiest thing for you to do is:

1) Put your Factory H/U back in

2) Purchase a Line Out Convertor

* NOTE: Since you have a Bose system you have 4 wired on each speaker. (2) wires are the ACTUAL speaker wires, and the other (2) wires are the Amplifier's wires. ( Common sense - connect the line out convertor to the actual speaker wires )
