Head Unit SW Control

So I have a pioneer DEH-3000IB, under the SW control menu there are two options, Full and Rear Sub. When I pick full, all the speakers play but the sub hardly plays at all. When I pick rear sub, the rear speakers dont play at all, but the sub really bumps loud. They're all aftermarket pioneer speakers which I installed myself and I know they all work and the wiring is fine because I double-checked.

I have a rockford fosgate amp R150x2 and the sub is from MA audio. I have no clue why it does this but I'm thinking its the headunit.

you have the sub plugged into the wrong output on the head unit if this is happening. most pioneer head unit have 3 pre outs, one for front, one for rear and one for sub (SW). your going to want to plug the rcas into the sw out on the hea dunit. whats happening is you have the high pass filter ON on your headunit and when you put the subwoofer settings to full it only gets from say 80 hz and up. but when you put it on rear your getting 0-80 hz. i hope that explains it

keep the sw control on full and plug the rcas into the correct location.

look for SW on the back

It sounds like you have the option of using the second RCA outs as either a SW or rear.

Thats not unusual on lower end HU's.

You have to decide if you want rears or SW, you cant have both.

could if they turn the high pass filter OFF. but then you may get distortion through the front and rear speakers due to bass.

and i just looke dit up you only have 2 pre outs and its exactly the situation that rich is saying.

but if you keep it on full and then turn the high pass off then you will be fine!

Thanks for your help. I'll look into getting a higher-end headunit, is it a bad idea to buy used Headunits?
