Head unit power issue???

Just bought an o6 ram 1500 that came with a pioneer in dash dvd nav system, problem is when turning the ignition switch back so the radio doesn't drain the battery the unit doesn't come back on???? The unit is a Pioneer Avic-d3.

If you don't want the radio to drain the battery, then it cannot turn on?

As long as the radio is on, and the engine is not running, the battery will be powering it.

Wait what? You turn your key to the Acc position and your radio does not turn on?

Im not sure but I dont think its the acc position, check it out, your car is running, you turn your switch back once to turn off engine, then back again for just to be able to like roll down the windows, or listen to the radio without the battery light on, while off if I turn the switch forward to the last position before start position the radio will play but, the battery meter is on witch will drain the battery. The problem is the radio not coming on with the switch turned completely back.......

The radio is not going to, what do you think is powering the radio? The battery.

You will always being using a battery to power your system is the car is off, there is no other way.

With the key turn all the way of only constant power wires have power from the battery a headunit needs 12v constant and switched power to operate correctly.

a lot of new dodges don't have an ignition lead in the factory harness...so car audio installers tap the acc. off of the fusebox...if yours is one done like this it may of been tapped into a fuse that don't work in acc mode
