Head Unit not playing full volume

I bought a JVC KD R620 and bout the proper harness for it with the chime. but with everything hooked up the cd is only playing at maybe 25% even with it turned all the ay up. is there something i should know about? the cd player is new so it shouldn't be that and everything else on it works too. the stock cd player still works at full volume if i hook it up. it is in a 2004 malibu classic. and i have my comps and amp coming soon and need to get this working.

thx in advance.

does the harness have a level on it ? i installed a system in a pontiac grand am last summer for a guy and it had a chime and a loudness level or whatever you want to call it.if your harness came with a box with the wires hooked to it,look for a flush slot with either a phillips or straight head notches

Some of the JVC head units have a power limit setting that keeps you from overpowering your speakers. Like in low power mode the volume will only go to 30 instead of 50.

thanks alot guys. i don't have my multimeter just yet. ill check the box for tthe chime that came with the adapter. could it possily be the am in my HU. (its new but it could have been handled rough in shipping. i got it from audiosavings on ebay if that matters. it is on loud and the volume is up to 50 with barely any music.

Play a test tone through your headunit and measure the voltage at the RCA's (1000Hz would work, or 50hz for the sub output).
What would be the reason for this and what am i going to be looking for? what if the the voltage doesn't read right what does that mean.

I assume that JVC is a 2v headunit which means the preouts should be putting out around 2v. If it's not putting out 2v and only like .5v then something is wrong.

Thx, anything else it could be? if anyone cares

I'm hooking it up 2 boston acoustic 6.5's in the doors to a MB Quart ONX 4channel, and the subs will be Skar audio IVX 12's or 15's, with an MB Quart mono 1.1000

Ok i just talked to a guy that says i can "bypass" this ussue. here is a quote from what he says

Good Morning, Perhaps is the interface for the CHIME as it is restrict the power of the radio. Can you bypass this ?

but how would i.

Where are your settings on the amp? If everything is being amped, the chime module (if you even have one, I don't believe that's been confirmed yet). should have no bearing as it would only be controlling power and ground. If the speakers are still currently running on deck power, it could be an issue though. if necessary to bypass, you would just run your own power and ground wires. Once again, only an issue if they're on deck power and you have a chime module and even then a lot of chimes modules have a volume adjustment.

Ok, I have my oem Harness hooked up to a scosche 2000-Up GM Radio replacement interface with door chime feature. so yea it has a chime. there are 3 wires from the New harness that i hooked to the HU harness Red Yellow and Black. and oh yea.. BLue/white and i connected a white wire to that. and the amp in question is the amp inside the HU.

thx much man.
