Head unit keeps turning off

I have a Kenwood radio with CD player and USB connection installed in my 2007 Silverado. I brought my truck to have a professional install it, along with a set of new speakers. This was in 2010. I have no amp or subwoofer. After it was installed, the only thing I noticed that was wrong was that my turn signals were silent. (No big deal to me at the time as I actually preferred it that way)

After a year (maybe 2?) the head unit turned off while driving. I checked the radio fuse in the fuse box and it was good. I put it back in and the radio came back on, functioning normally.

This started happening about every 4-6 months. Each time I would pull fuse and put back in and all would be good.

Over the past month, this has been happening every 2-3 days, including this afternoon. However this afternoon, it would only stay on for only about 3-4 minutes. Pulled the fuse out and back in 3 times while doing errands with same result each time.

With truck in driveway, engine off and keys out of ignition, I pulled fuse and put back in....the radio came on. Now I couldn't turn it off. It did go off again after several minutes. To me, it was acting as if I had just shut the engine off and not opened my door yet. (My door was open during this test)

I pulled fuse and put back in, with truck running, to test a couple more times. Radio keeps turning off after several minutes.

One more thing to note....over the past 2weeks, while driving, I have seen all my gauges (fuel level, tach, sped, coolant temp) going to zero momentarily and then returning to normal. When these gauges have been going to zero, my abs warning light is also on. My airbag warning light has also been coming on intermittently and going off.....

Anyone willing to offer any advice to this cluster of mine???

Thank you!

Sounds like a lose connection behind the HU. Might wanna check the yellow/red wire see if the two came lose somehow. And wiring connections do if it's not tight to begin with.

A 2007 Silverado factory radio communicates with the computer of your truck. When the radio is replaced an interface has to be used to retain features like your chimes. Your turn signals no longer made sound after your stereo was installed tells me that the interface that was installed was the incorrect one or was defective and it seems like it's now giving you additional issues. Given that piece is connected to the vehicles computer system would make sense that your experiencing all the weird issues. The computer is what talks to the interface and tells the radio when to turn on and off. When you pull the fuse it resets the interface and that's why it starts working for a bit until it has an issue again. I would pull the radio (if you feel comfortable doing so) or take it back to the shop that did the install and explain the issue. Sounds like you need a new interface.
