Head unit distortion question

How do you determine the clip point on your head unit without an OScope or SMD DD-1

I understand how to set the amp gain by using a capacitor and a tweeter, can you do the same test by using the Head Unit speaker level output?

headunit is a JVC 750bt

Does the volume go to 40? I ask because if it is like my Kenwood 706S it goes to 40 and through the RCA's it is clean to 40 at 4v. 36 on the volume is 2v approximately according to my DSP. Should be similar or the same on that JVC.

just play a test tone and listen for it

it sounds like this...

the 1khz test tone is at the very bottom...

but you can smoke your speakers if they cant handle much power but most decks only put out like 20 watts. so a 50 rms speaker should be able to handle it

amps/decks, at full clipping, is like putting out 2x their regular power
