was wondering if anyone knows how to be able to exceed the 32gb limitation of the fat32. or maybe this is not my problem.... i can put up to 111gb on the hdd, but my head unit pioneer deh6000 only reads like ~32gb the rest of the files and folders just dont display, but they are there. any thoughts suggestions??

I agree with lilmaniac2 I have done this before for a friend and the only way it would see all the files is if it was partitioned into as many 32gb partitions as possible. Than the head unit just search all the portions for music.

yeah...didnt work i just split it into two separate partitions (G: formatted to fat32 and H: formatted to fat32) with about 20gb on each and it only recognizes the first one. soooo crap...

Have you checked the manual? There might be issues on how to organize your folder and files, the number of files in each folder etc, etc.
i can only assume u r talking about the manual to my head unit...no i have not checked it out yet, but it does say it can handle up to 250gig through the usb.

but i think that you may be correct, because when i did the math, the head unit was actually getting more than 32 gig, it was more like 34-35gig. and there are sooooo many folders. thanks a lot i am going to go check that out...

You just need to get a different piece of software to format FAT32 to larger sizes. It's just a limitation in the Windows format command that keeps you from formatting larger than 32GB. I'm currently using an 80GB with my Pioneer 6900, and I just limited it to that size to keep the time spent scanning the disk when it was turned on to a reasonable length. Last I checked, it took a little over a minute before it would start playing from the USB disk.
