With DirecTV or Dish Network receivers, you will not need a separate or external tuner. The receiver will output HD video via component or HDMI.

The Toslink digital audio output can be set to output PCM, Dolby Digital, or both. If you set it to both you should be able to route all audio through your receiver as long as your receiver's digital input supports both PCM and Dolby Digital.
